That one cliché blog.
We always seem to conclude that the thrill of our trips, is only highlighted by the time we arrive on top of that hill, when its golden hour, the lights seem more beautiful on that restaurant rooftop than before, not realizing they were always as beautiful as other lights and the slight wind that's brushing your hair against your skin as your dancing. You're in bliss. You made it to your destination and you can relax. Why can’t this be outside of trips/Vac? Why not bring this bliss now into our everyday life? Don’t get me wrong, it’s wonderful to be at the climax of it all, but I don't think we take enough time to enjoy the full journey as a whole, we tend to leave some beautiful moments out or even fail to see that they were even there. I’m guilty of it too, until I started practicing the present moment. It’s something that can take some time to get the hang of, once you're there though, it’s a trait that can be your greatest asset. You will find more interesting things along the way, sights, synchronicities, inside jokes that your friend said beneath their breath that makes you cringe and laugh at the same time or seeing a baby bird for the first time about to fly, the possibilities are endless of everything we can see and experience if we’re not stuck in our heads ,on our phones, sleeping as much as we can till we get there to start enjoying the little time we have or could have by making that small action. That action that changes the whole timeline of our life…
Cliché🙆 ,but true...
Some fun ways of practicing the present moment on your next trip is to keep a travel journal and jot down what you just expired or maybe grab your polaroid and make a memory book to appreciate the moment. The reason I suggested the Polaroid Vs your camera phone is because you know you will post something right then and there then be distracted by other platforms. It's not all about logging and capturing every single thing ,but adding more time to stay in that moment and fully connect to it. This way it's training you to embody the now vs getting caught up in 7-10 different things on your phone. When you set the intention of seeing the small things you normally miss they will grow about, only if you listen.
Not the most uplifting way to remember ,but gently remind yourself, will I be here tomorrow? If I pass, would I be proud? Would I be thankful for the good and unsettling times.
There may be some pebbles or a big rock you may have to run over (Delays) They are simply there to save you from something or bring a better opportunity to forth. Even when you're on the road hitting every red light, there is a logical reason behind the scenes that we are not aware of. There's no reason to lose your peace. You may make it an hour or two late , but you're still going where you need just not on your timing.
Sometimes not having a plan is the best plan!
